Both sides left this game with their unbeaten start to the season intact. The Woods were more fortunate than their opponents as they had to battle with ten men for virtually the whole of the second half.
The first half was contested ferociously by both teams with tackles flying in, giving the referee a busy start to his day. eventually the book came out and Danny Power was the first to be shown yellow. There were few chances to either side but Jamie Lindsay cleared one off the line and John Carter fired two efforts just past the post.
One had barely sat down for the second half when the Woods went ahead. Courtney Francis turned his marker with ease and fired home from outside the box. Four minutes later Danny Power showed he hadn’t learnt from his first half misdemeanour, went over the ball in a tackle, and was sent for an early bath. This forced Mark Adams into a change and the unfortunate John Daily was sacrificed for Max Moore.
Ashford equalised on the hour when the home defence failed to clear a corner and Collins beat Mark Britt at his near post. The game was going from end to end and Northwood regained the lead on 70 minutes when John Sonuga was brought down in the area, giving Ryan Tackley the chance to get his first goal of the season from the spot.
The visitors then put Woods under severe pressure as they went after the equaliser, and they eventually got it when Mark Britt was slow to react to a through ball and Turner beat him to it, and lobbed in to make the final score a 2-2 draw.
